Dreams, Success & Wisdom.
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." -Walt Disney

I really like that quote up there haha. Anyways, wow its been a while since i updated this thing lol.
I noticed as days go on that style actually has nothing to do with my current situation. I am a student in high school who is striving to get into a famous university and in order to acheive that i can't be busy trying to compete with the most fashionable girls at school. Yea, I'm a student who needs to be studying; thats what students do. I shouldn't be concerned about how to impress the cute guy at school or wear a better outfit than a girl that dresses well. Now that definately isn't a factor in helping me get at least a 1800+ SAT score next week.

Also, I realized that I do in fact have several role models, people whom i look up to and I love following and reading how they got to be famous but i caught myself one day reading only about their flaws and the mistakes they made and smiling at them. I thought to myself...how stupid am i? Why would I pay attention to their flaws and mistakes? Yeah, i know readin gabout people's mistakes can help me to prevent the same ones in the future but i was constantly reading them and feeling giddy about it...WTF LOL. I have to start reading about how they got to be where they are now and what steps they took. Sure, reading about their mistakes once in a while will help me to prevent and avoid the same ones but successful people do not make the same mistakes twice so why did i feel the need to keep reading their one mistake, like twelve times? That was a total waste of time for me and my future.

And you know what? I dont have to be popular at school now. I used to hate being the normal kid at school even up til a few weeks ago but I came to realize all this as I thought to myself. It may boost my social life but thats all it will do. I'm not saying that all "popular" people are not focusing on their future cause some may be, i wouldn't know but from what i've heard from friends and classmates, they're going to parties out drinking and having fun. (I honestly don't know so don't bash me or anything cause thats what i heard.) Right now, i need to focus on getting in to a top university, graduating from it and following my dreams because i know without a doubt what i want to do when i graduate from high school.

A few days ago, on February 26, 2009 a man named Willie Jolley, an inspirational and motivational speaker came to our school. The night before that, I came down with serious flu symptoms and I was debating on whether to go to school the next day or not. I knew that a speaker was coming and I wasn't sure who it was and if he was any good so I was on the verge of not going to school the next day. When I was getting ready for bed, I suddenly felt the need to go to school even though I was sick. So, I dragged myself to school the next day and right after 1st period, we went to the auditorium to listen to the speaker. After a mere 2 minutes into his speech, I was captured in his speech. It was fun, motivating and easy to listen to! He taught us on how to become successful:
  1. Know how to shake hands. This does sound silly and I was wondering why that was the first thing he said in his speech. He said you have to have a firm grip, say your name loud and clear once and once only & finally look the other person dead in the eye.
  2. Have a dream and follow it. In order to become successful you need to know what you want to become in life and you need to have the motivation to chase it. Having a dream is like planting a seed in your heart and watering it everyday. Soon enough, it will blossom and become a flower. The same will happen if you have a dream, plant it, water it and let it blossom.
  3. Do not do drugs. "Drugs are the number one dream killer." Enough said.
  4. Get away from people who are negative. Dont hang around people who say, "You can't do it."
  5. Don't make decisions for today, make decisions for tomorrow.
*Thanks to Willy Jolley for these tips lol they're great :D

So, I permanantly wrote these three tips down in my mind and I will keep it forever. I yearn to become famous one day and make a change in the world. I want to become a somebody. I hate thinking that I might grow up to be an anybody. I really don't want that for me. I want to become big somehow. I will do it one way or another. I know there are so many people reading this that are doubting me right now because they've seen who i am and I have so many obstacles standing in my way right now and so much competition but I'm going to learn to get over them. Right now, i have two dreams i am watering everyday and I am putting in so much effort to catch: Become a concert pianist or become a very rich, big, successful business owner. Someday, i will catch these dreams. So I'm telling everyone out there right now, to not give up on your dreams because you can do it. You have to put your mind to it though. You can't sit around on the couch or computer and say, "I'm going to become the best pianist in the world" if you're not going to be willing to put in the 4 hours of practice everyday.

So. I've written alot but I hope what i've come to realize and know now will help other people out there who've lost their hope in becoming someone. Btw, another great motivational speaker is Paull Shin, the senator from Washington state. I've heard his speech at a concert my orchestra was giving at a church nearby. He taught me some important lessons. So, Paull Shin and Willy Jolley are some awesome speakers lol. :D
